A 25 year old East Texas man charged with manslaughter for the shooting death of his friend has been convicted. 25-year-old Mitchel Edward Morgan of Harleton waived his right to a jury trial and pleaded no-contest to the charge. He was found guilty by District Judge Brad Morin of the lesser offense of Criminally Negligent Homicide and sentenced to 5 years in prison. The victim was accidentally shot after the two men had been drinking and the gun discharged.
