It’ll be a hot week in Texas, which means everybody will be running their air conditioners at full power. Triple-digit temperature, and the power demand, are bringing back some bad memories of winter storm Uri and the failure of the Texas power grid. However, Thomas Overbye, who heads the Smart Grid Center at Texas A&M, says that it’s easier for power generators to handle heat than a freeze. He says the good news is that there is enough generation to meet demand, thanks to a bump from wind and solar power.
