High School Baseball and Softball Plus Mazara Outstanding in Debut

Paris – Following three seasons as varsity basketball players at Paris High school the twins, Jordan and Jared Embry will be sticking around Paris after signing with PJC.  The Wildcats were 91-13 during the Embry’s three seasons.
Over the weekend in district play in high school baseball and softball the North Lamar Panthers sweep Pittsburg with the Pantherette’s run ruling the Lady Pirates 14-1.  North Lamar baseball erased a three run deficit to win 5-3.  The Paris Wildcats collect a victory on the road over the Atlanta Rabbits 4-1. And in a rivalry slugfest the Prairiland Patriots get the last blast as they beat Chisum 15-13.  The Lady Patriots, meanwhile win convincingly 13-1 over the Lady Mustangs. And in the regional semifinal round of the girls high school soccer playoffs the Paris Lady Cats see their season come to an end following a 3-1 loss to Athens.
MP – Over the weekend in district play in high school baseball and softball the Mt. Pleasant Tigers blast the Greenville Lions 13-0.  With the win, Mt. Pleasant Tiger baseball improves to 4-4 in district 15-5A and are one game out of a playoff spot.  Mt. Pleasant softball picked up a 4-1 win over the Lady Lions.  The Hallsville Lady Cats remain unbeaten at 10-0 but Mt. Pleasant is close behind with an 8-2 district mark.  The Pittsburg Pirates and lady Pirates suffered a sweep at the hands of North Lamar.  Pittsburg baseball fell 5-3 and have a 2-3 district record, while Pittsburg softball lost 14-1 and are now 3-4.  The Chapel Hill Red Devil baseball team picked up a 13-2 win over Queen City and the Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers blow out Linden Kildare 20-2.
SS – Over the weekend in district play of high school baseball and softball the Sulphur Springs Wildcats and Lady Cats split their contest with Texas high.  The Lady Cat softball team picked up a 4-3 win over the Lady Tigers and improve to 7-3 in district 15-5A.  Sulphur Springs baseball suffered a 8-0 shutout loss.  The Wildcats district record drops to 2-6 on the season.  The Winnsboro Red Raiders and Lady Raiders sweep Winona with the baseball team on top 4-1, while the Lady Raiders win 16-0.  And the Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers crush Linden Kildare 20-2 and are 6-3 in their district. And in college softball over the weekend the Texas A&M Commerce Lady Lions pick up a pair of wins 9-6 and 13-3 over Midwestern State on Saturday.
Yesterday afternoon the Texas Rangers fall to the LA Angels 3-1.  Despite the loss it was a memorable Major League debut for Rangers outfielder Nomar Mazara. The Rangers begin a three game series in Seattle today [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm]. First pitch is at 9:10 pm Central time.
In the NBA The Golden State Warriors make history with their 92-86 victory over the San Antonio Spurs.  The Warriors are now 72-9, matching the 95-96 Chicago Bulls mark for most wins in a single season.  The Warriors look to break the record in their final game of the regular season on Wednesdayagainst the Grizzlies.
The Dallas Mavericks fall to the LA Clippers 98-91.  The Dallas Stars wrap up the top spot in the Western Conference and begin post season play against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday.  And Danny Willett comes out on top at the Masters. Jordan Spieth tied with Lee Westwood for 2nd.
