High School Baseball and Softball Results Plus Rangers Fall to Mariners

Paris – Last night in girls high school soccer playoffs the Paris Lady Cats advance past Kaufman 4-3.  The game was even at 1-1 after extra time, and the Lady Cats would go on to win in Penalty Kicks.  Paris girls soccer will face the winner of Athens and Pleasant Grove on Friday at Tyler’s Rose Stadium on Friday at 6:30.
In district baseball and softball the North Lamar Panthers improve to 3-1 in 15-4A after a 9-6 win over Liberty Eylau.  The Pantherette’s are now 4-2 after shutting out the Lady Leopards 6-0.  The Paris Wildcats fall to Pleasant Grove 3-0.  And Prairiland splits with New Boston with the baseball team winning 5-3. The Lady Patriots suffered a 5-1 loss.
MP – Last night in district play in high school baseball and softball the Mt. Pleasant Tigers and Lady Tigers were swept by Texas High.  The baseball team fell 6-2 and drop to a 3-4 and sit in 5th place in district 15-5A.  Mt. Pleasant softball dropped a close one to the Texarkana Lady Tigers 6-5. With the loss the MP Lady Tigers are 7-2 and remain in 2nd place in the district standings.  The Pittsburg Pirates shut out Atlanta 6-0, while the Lady Pirates fall to the Lady Rabbits 5-1 in district 15-4A.  And the Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers blank Queen City 5-0 to improve to 5-3.
SS – Last night in the regional quarterfinal round of the girls high school soccer playoffs the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats fall to Mansfield Legacy 2-nil. Sulphur Springs girls soccer has been eliminated from post season contention.  Legacy advances to face Frisco in the regional semi finals.
In district baseball and softball the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats out slug Marshall 11-7, improving their district record to 6-3 for 3rd place in district 15-5A.  The Sulphur Springs baseball team was shut out against Marshall 6-0.  The Wildcats fall to 2-5 and are in 6th place in the district. And the Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers blank Queen City 5-0 to improve to 5-3.
In Major League Baseball the Texas Rangers drop their first game of the season 10-2 to the Seattle Mariners. Elvis Andrus and Robinson Charinos drove in the runs, while Tony Barnette was charged with the loss for Texas, giving up two runs on three hits in only two thirds of an inning pitched in the 7th.  The Rangers are 1-1 on the young season and wrap up the series opener against Seattle this afternoon.  Colby Lewis takes to the hill. In the NBA the Golden State Warriors suffer an upset at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves 124-117 in overtime.  With the loss the Warriors fall to 69-9, meaning in order to break the single season record for wins at 72-10 by the 95-96 Chicago Bulls the Warriors must win out.
The Dallas Mavericks will return to the court tonight when they host in state rival Houston at the AAC.  The Mavs at 39-38 are currently 7th in the Western conference. Tip off tonight between the Mavs and Rockets is set for 8:30.
And in the NCAA Women’s hoops tournament the UCONN Lady Huskie accomplish the…quite probable and predictable, blowing out Syracuse 82-51 to capture their forth consecutive national title.
