High School Baseball Results Plus Mavs Win in Today’s Sports

Paris – Last night on the PJC Campus at Hub Hollis Field the North Lamar Panthers take game one of the crosstown showdown on the diamond in a 1-0 pitcher duel over the Paris Wildcats. Sophomore pitcher Matt Gibbons picked up the win on the mound. Ashton Chaffin had the RBI single for North Lamar, driving in Trey Scudder. The Panthers are now 2-0 in district 15-4A. Paris falls to 1-1. The North Lamar girls even their district record at 2-2 with a 13-1 win over the Paris Lady Cats. And tonight in district baseball and softball the Chisum Mustangs and Lady Mustangs take on DeKalb on the road while the Prairiland Patriots and Lady Patriots visit Redwater. Softball games begin at 6pm. Baseball at 7.

MP – Last night in district 15-4A baseball the Pittsburg Pirates shut out the Liberty Eylau Leopards 6-0. With the win, Pittsburg evens their district record at 1-1. District action continues for other area teams this evening. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers are 1-1 in 15-5A and will host the Longview Lobos at 7pm. The Lady Tigers softball team has a 5-1 district mark and are currently in 2nd place. They’ll be on the road against the Longview Lady Lobos at 6pm. The Daingerfield Blue Tigers and Lady Tigers will host the Mt. Vernon Purple Tigers and Lady Tigers. And the Chapel Hill Red Devils and Lady Devils are on the road visiting the Hughes Springs Mustangs and Lady Mustangs. Softball begins at 5:30. Varsity baseball follows at 7.

SS – District play of high school baseball and softball returns tonight for area teams. The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats are in 3rd place in district 15-5A with a 4-2 record. They’ll visit the Pine Tree Lady Pirates in Longview. First pitch this evening is at 6pm. The Sulphur Springs baseball team will host the Pirates this evening. The Wildcats are tied for 3rd place early on in district play 2-2. Game time is 7pm. The Mt. Vernon Tigers and Lady Tigers will be on the road this evening against the Daingerfield Tigers and Lady Tigers. Softball begins at 5:30. Varsity baseball begins at 7.

In College softball the Texas A&M Commerce Lady Lions will be in Odessa to play a double header against Texas Permian Basin. Game one is at 2pm. Game two is at 4.

In the NBA last night the Dallas Mavericks beat the Denver Nuggets 97-88. Point guard JJ Barea had an 18 points 11 assist double double to lead the Mavs, who despite the win have lost 10 out of 13. Dallas is currently 36-38 on the season, tied for 8th in the west. Tomorrow the Mavs will host the Knicks at 7:30.

In the NHL the Dallas Stars have won four out of their last five as they prepare to host the Nashville Predators tonight at the AAC. With 99 points on the season the Stars are tied with St. Louis for the top stop in the west. The Blues host Colorado tonight. Puck drop this evening between the Stars and Predators is scheduled for 7:30.

And the Texas Rangers are in the final week of spring training. Last night the Rangers drop one to the Dodgers 5-4. This afternoon they’ll face the Chicago White Sox in the first of their final four Cactus League games. First pitch is at 3:05.
