High School Basketball Cranking Up Plus Stars Stay Red Hot In Today’s Sports Update

Paris trailed Mineola, 45-36, in the 4th quarter before going on a 9-0 run to tie the game. Paris would go on to win 58-52. Gavyn Hollje led Paris with 17 points, eight of which came in the fourth quarter. Jaelyn Lee added 15. Paris will play at number 24 Van Alstyne this Saturday.

The North Lamar Pantherettes knocked off Greenville 41-34. Mylee Nottingham led the way with 16 points for North Lamar.

The Detroit lady Eagles lost time Wolfe City 41-33. Kiley Miller led the way for Detroit with 10 pts. It was the Chisum lady Mustangs over Rivercrest 59-40.

This Friday night the Honey Grove Warriors will play Crawford in Forney for the Area Round playoffs. Kickoff is at 8:00 pm. That game can be heard on Mix 107-7 beginning at 7:45.

For the fifth straight season, the Texas A&M University-Commerce football team has qualified for the NCAA Division II Football Championship and the No. 21 Lions will face a rematch with the No. 3 Tarleton State University Texans in the regional quarterfinal round to start the playoffs. The game will be this Saturday at 1:00 pm in Stephenville.

The Dallas Stars continued their winning as they thumped Vancouver 6-1 last night on home Ice. Jamie Benn has two goals for Dallas.

And the Mavericks will host Golden State tonight at 6:30. The Mavs have won two in a row while the Warriors snapped a seven-game losing streak last night at Memphis.

The new College Football Playoff Poll is out and there is not much change. LSU is No. 1, Ohio State No. 2, Clemson No. 3, Georgia No. 4, Alabama is 5th, Oregon is 6th, Utah No. 7, Penn State 8th, Oklahoma is 9th and Minnesota No. 10. SMU is now at No. 25.

Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford told reporters Tuesday that he deleted his social media accounts after still receiving death threats and vulgar messages regarding the Nittany Lions’ first loss of the season, to Minnesota.  Despite having an excellent season overall, Clifford threw three interceptions in the 31-26 loss to Minnesota, which apparently upset some fans who then took to social media to voice their displeasure.

The Miami Dolphins waived running back Mark Walton after he was arrested Tuesday morning on a charge of aggravated battery of a pregnant woman. According to a police document Walton is accused of pushing the woman into a wall and punching her several times in her face and head. Walton is currently being booked into Broward County jail. The officer called to the scene observed swelling to the woman’s left eye. The woman is five weeks pregnant, and Walton is the father. The alleged aggravated battery occurred at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday in Davie, Florida, after an argument.

Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Felipe Vazquez has been denied bail and is facing 21 additional felony counts from his alleged sexual assault of a minor. The bail decision and announcement of additional charges were made at a Tuesday hearing in a Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, courtroom. The new charges consist of 10 counts of unlawful sexual contact with a minor, 10 counts of child pornography and one count of corruption of a minor. Vazquez pleaded not guilty to the charges.
