After missing 10 games with right knee soreness, Kristaps Porzingis could return Tuesday when the Dallas Mavericks host the Los Angeles Clippers. The 7-foot-3 Porzingis averaged 17.3 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks before being sidelined. Tip-off is set for 7:30 at the AAC.

Baylor and Gonzaga were the only two teams in the top five that took care of business last week in men’s basketball. That doesn’t mean they didn’t move around, too. The Bears (15-1) leaped over the Bulldogs and into the No. 1 spot in The Associated Press men’s college basketball poll on Monday, using wins over Iowa State and Oklahoma State to give the Top 25 its seventh team on top this season. That matches the record set in 1983 for the most No. 1s in the history of the poll, which dates to the 1948-49 season.

NBA

The AP men’s college basketball poll had Baylor men ranked No. 1 Monday. The women are No. 2. The Baylor women notch a Big 12-record 45th straight league win.

After speculation that former Baylor coach and Mt Vernon’s football Coach Art Briles might be a candidate for the job, Missouri State announced the hiring of Bobby Petrino as its head football coach. Before the announcement, a source confirmed that Missouri State never contacted Briles despite several reports linking him to the job. It is just one of many rumors that aren’t happening.
