High School Basketball Plus Cowboys Big 4th Quarter Leads to Win

 

High school hoops teams were in tournament action over the weekend.
Paris – The Paris Wildcats make a strong showing in the New Boston Gunslingers tournament, but fall in the championship game to district rival Pleasant Grove, 58-51 in overtime. The Chisum Mustangs finish third at Community.
MP – The Mt Pleasant Tigers keep their winning streak alive and improve to 8-2 on the season with three wins at the Union Grove Tournament beating Lindale, Kilgore, and John Tyler. The Mt Vernon Tigers remain undefeated on the season sweeping the Quitman Tournament. The Chapel Hill Red Devils notch a win over Crockett, 76-73 at the Grand East Texas Shootout.
SS – The Sulphur Springs Wildcats stay hot winning a trio of games at the Union Grove Tournament beating Wichita Falls, Longview, and Willis. The 13th ranked Wildcats improve to 12-1 on the season and will host the Paris Wildcats this evening. The Mt Vernon Tigers take home some hardware after sweeping through the Quitman Tournament. Mt Vernon Basketball is 10-0 on the season.
The Texas A&M Commerce Lions are one step closer to making history after a 31-17 win over Harding in the National Semi-Finals. The Lions racked up over 400 yards of total offense. A&M Commerce advances to the National Title game this weekend where they’ll meet with West Florida for the Championship. Kick off will be Saturday at 5:00 pm from Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas.
The Dallas Cowboys find their footing in the second half to beat the New York Giants, 30-10. It was a stellar night for quarterback Dak Prescott who finished with 332 yards passing and three touchdowns. Running Back, Rod Smith, totaled 160 yards and score. The Cowboys are still in the playoff hunt at 7-6 but remain outside of a wildcard spot in the NFC behind Carolina, Atlanta, Seattle, Detroit, and Green Bay.
The Dallas Mavericks fall to the Minnesota Timberwolves, 97-92. The Mavs have dropped three straight during a tough stretch falling to 7-20.
And, Oklahoma Sooner quarterback Baker Mayfield becomes the first ever former walk-on to win the Heisman Trophy and the sixth Sooner to win the award in the program’s history. Mayfield broke an NCAA record gaining 11.8 yards per pass attempt while throwing 41 touchdowns with 4,300 yards.
