The Arizona Wildcats on Tuesday fired football coach Rich Rodriguez after six seasons. It was in the wake of a sexual harassment allegation the university began investigating in October and a recent notice of a hostile-workplace lawsuit to be filed against the school.
Alabama coach Nick Saban lamented what he feels is a quick turnaround from the College Football Playoff semifinal games to the championship game, saying that it’s difficult to come off a bowl game with only seven days to prepare. Saban said that it wasn’t until after 1:00 a.m. that Alabama began packing up to leave the Allstate Sugar Bowl after beating Clemson 24-6, which meant that the team needed to spend the night in New Orleans and return to Tuscaloosa in the morning.
Marvin Lewis’s long run in Cincinnati isn’t over. Lewis will remain head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals after signing a two-year contract with the team that runs through the 2019 season, the team announced. Meanwhile, QB Carson Palmer has announced his retirement after 15 years.
