High School Football Plus Rangers Avoid Sweep in Today’s Sports Update

 

 

On Tuesday, Detroit beat Como-Pickton in volleyball in three games: 25–13, 25–16, 25–12. Kaisen Eldridge had 5 kills and finished 19 of 19 serving with 2 aces. She also had 18 assists. Kiley Miller had 6 kills, 2 aces, and 1 dig. Britney Ricks finished with 10 kills and 3 blocks.

 

The Frisco RoughRiders fell 7–3 in Corpus Christi Wednesday night. Leody Taveras collected his fourth multi-hit game in five contests. Brendon Davis recorded three outfield assists to extend his team lead in assists to 12. CD Pelham worked a season-high two scoreless innings, striking out four.

 

The Cowboys will end training camp today. Ezekiel Elliott, Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper still don’t have contract extensions. While Elliott is holding out, the other two have been in camp. Dallas leaves for Hawaii this afternoon for their preseason game with Los Angeles.

 

Local High Schools are getting ready for the 2019 football seasons with celebrations tonight . Among those: Mt Pleasant’s Meet the Tigers will be held tonight at 7:30 pm at Sam Parker Field. The Athletic Booster Club will host a tailgate hamburger dinner at the stadium starting at 6 o’clock. Coach Ritchie Pinkard on the meaning of the event…..sfx….. In Pittsburg tonight at 5 pm, it’s the annual “ Meet the Pirates” at Fair Park. It’s a chance to meet the Coaches and players, band and cheerleaders.. There will be booths set up all over the Park.

 

Don’t forget about the pre-season scrimmages scheduled for Friday night: The Paris Wildcats will travel to Henderson tonight for their first scrimmage of the season. Paris is currently ranked 7th in the state in 4A division 1. The Mt Pleasant Tigers will scrimmage with Liberty Eyelau in Texarkana, Pittsburg will be at home against Carthage, Mt Vernon will be at home with Quinlan Ford, Paul Pewitt will host Linden-Kildare, Daingerfield will be at Hooks, Hughes Springs will be at Queen City, North Lamar is at Atlanta and Gilmer will be at Kilgore. Sulphur Springs will hold it’s scrimmage next Friday at Liberty Eyelau.

 

Kolby Allard pitched 5 2/3 innings to win for the first time with Texas, Elvis Andrus had four hits and two RBI and the Rangers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-3 Wednesday to avoid a three-game sweep. They are back at home for a weekend series with the Twins starting tonight with a 7:05pm first pitch.

The school, formally known as The Ohio State University, is seeking a trademark on the word “The” for use on clothing and hats. Ohio State has previously trademarked the names and likenesses of football coaches Woody Hayes and Urban Meyer as well as phrases like Script Ohio and The Shoe.

 

Oakland Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown is facing a civil lawsuit that alleges that he stiffed a chef’s bill of nearly $40,000 during Pro Bowl festivities in 2018. Stefano Tedeschi — who goes by the name “The Sports Chef” — filed suit in Osceola (Florida) County on July 30, claiming that Brown’s balance of $38,521.20 remains unpaid.
