High School Football Preview Plus Rays Take Game 2 In Today’s Sports Update

Thursday night’s football in the Red River Valley – Sports brought to you by RENO TIRE AND SERVICE CENTER.

Tonight the Cooper Bulldogs look to remain undefeated in the district as they travel to Como Pickton.

On Friday night, the Paris Wildcats will try to win their third game in a row as they travel to Kaufman. The Wildcats have cracked the top 10 as they are ranked 10th in the state. Friday’s game is on 101.9 KBUS. Pregame with Steven Johnston and Robert High begins at 7:00 pm.

On Mix 107.7, the North Lamar Panthers are looking for their first win of the season as they host Pittsburg. The Pirates are also looking for their first win of the season. Pregame with Adam Routon and myself begins at 7:00 pm.

The NBA has pinpointed Martin Luther King Day (Jan. 18) as the opening night for next season. Emphasis is now reportedly on getting the NBA back to its typical mid-October start date in time for the 2021-22 season. In June, the league had initially announced that it was targeting Dec. 1 for the 2020-21 season tip-off, but subsequent reports suggested it would consider starting as late as March.

LSU is banning former wide receiver and current Cleveland Browns star Odell Beckham Jr. from its facilities for two years after he handed out cash to players following the team’s national championship win in January. The ban is part of recent self-imposing penalties for rules violations. The Tigers will also eliminate eight football scholarships over two years while reducing recruitment visits, evaluations, and communication following a separate two-year investigation involving booster payments to the father of former offensive lineman Vadal Alexander.

The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 in Game 2 Wednesday night to even the World Series at one game apiece. Brandon Lowe hit a pair of home runs to snap a 6-for-56 slump and help propel the Rays to victory.
