High School Football Results Plus Cowboys Win Big in SF

Week eight of the Texas High School Football season is in the books.
Paris – It was a rough weekend in the Red River Valley with Rivercrest coming away with the area’s lone victory, 26-21 over Linden Kildare. The Paris Wildcats suffer an upset at the hands of Princeton, 21-16. North Lamar falls in a shootout against Liberty Eylau, 48-35. Prairiland loses to Leonard, 54-22. The Cooper Bulldogs were shut out by Gunter, 50-0. Honey Grove is crushed by Wolfe City, 41-8 and the Detroit Eagles fall to Maud, 40-14.
Mount Pleasant – The Mt Vernon Tigers make a statement, dismantling the Mineola Yellowjackets, 60-21, to remain undefeated on the season. The Pittsburg Pirates win a back and forth shootout over Spring Hill, 57-56. The Rivercrest Rebels stay unbeaten after edging out Linden Kildare, 26-21. Daingerfield throttles Hooks, 41-13. The Paul Pewitt Brahmas sneak by DeKalb, 36-34 and the Gilmer Buckeyes win a high scoring affair over rival Gladewater, 49-39. Meanwhile, the Mt Pleasant Tigers are shut out at the hands of Texas High, 48-0 and Hughes Springs falls to Jefferson, 42-22.
Sulphur Springs – The Cumby Trojans offense has been clicking in district play as they notch a win over Dallas Gateway, 52-34. The Mt Vernon Tigers make a statement with a 60-21 win over Mineola and the Winnsboro Raiders get on track with a win over Grand Saline, 56-48. Meanwhile, The Lone Oak Buffalo fall to Edgewood, 52-36. The Greenville Lions lose to Marshall, 56-14. Como-Pickton is shut out at the hands of Harmony, 42-0.  Emory Rains falls to Farris, 53-28 and the Cooper Bulldogs get blanked by defending state champion Gunter, 50-0.
Yesterday afternoon the Dallas Cowboys drill the San Francisco 49ers, 40-10. The ‘boys fed Zeke for 219 total yards and three touchdowns, while quarterback Dak Prescott threw for three scored and ran for another. The defense came up with five sacks and recovered three fumbles. The Cowboys are 3-3 on the season.
The Fall Classic is set.  The Houston Astros will represent the American League against the L-A Dodgers out of the National League in the 2017 World Series. Game one will be tomorrow with Dallas Keuchel on the mound for the ‘Stros against Dallas native, Klayton Kershaw, for the Dodgers.
The Dallas Mavericks are still searching for their first win of the season after falling to the Rockets on Saturday, 107-91.  Rookie, Dennis Smith, Jr., has missed the last two games with a left knee effusion and is questionable for tonight’s game against Golden State. Tip-off is at 7:30.
