High School Hoops Plus Mavs Handle Rockets In Today’s Sports Update

District basketball begins for some teams and continues for others.

Tonight on the hardwood, the North Lamar Pantherettes will begin district action against Pittsburg at home. The Paris Lady Cats will start their district season on the road against Pleasant Grove.

Other district action tonight will see Chisum play Rains. The girls will travel to Emory while the boys will be at home. Prairiland and Lone Oak will square off against each other. The Patriots will be on the road while the Lady Pats are at home.

Both the Detroit girls and boys will travel to Linden Kildare, while both Honey Grove teams will host Trenton.

Luka Doncic had 33 points, 16 rebounds, 11 assists, and Tim Hardaway, Jr., added 30 off the bench as the Dallas Mavericks used a big fourth-quarter run to pull away 113-100 win over the Houston Rockets. Dallas was on top by 3 with about seven minutes remaining before using a 14-3 spurt, with seven points from Hardaway, to extend the lead to 106-92 with about 2½ minutes remaining.

The Los Angeles Chargers are looking for a new head coach, and New York Giants offensive coordinator and former Dallas Cowboy head coach Jason Garrett is an early candidate for the job. The Chargers requested an interview with Garrett for the vacant role.

The NCAA announced Monday it had reached an agreement with Indiana to host the entire 2021 national tournament, with a majority of the 67 games to take place in its capital, Indianapolis.
