High School Hoops Plus XFL To Return


Playoff positioning is on the line tonight for area high school basketball teams.
Paris – The Chisum Mustangs and Cooper Bulldogs play a vital game as the two square off in Cooper. The Prairiland Patriots look for the upset as they welcome in the Mt Vernon Tigers to Patriots Gym. The North Lamar Panthers take on Liberty Eylau at The Radar Dome in Texarkana while the Paris Wildcats look to stay in contention for a district crown when they make the trip to visit the Pittsburg Pirates. Games will tip off between 7:00 and 7:30.
Mount Pleasant – The Chapel Hill Lady Devils can lock up a district title tonight, but they’ll have to do so against a stout Winnsboro Lady Raider team on the road. Followed by the Chapel Hill and Winnsboro boys. The girls tip off at 6:00 pm.The boys game will follow. The Mt Pleasant Tigers are looking to keep pace for a district crown as well hosting the Pine Tree Pirates at Willie Williams Gym. The Mt Vernon Tigers and Lady Tigers travel to Pattonville to take on Prairiland, and Pittsburg aims to improve their playoff seeding as they host the Paris Wildcats.
Sulphur Springs – In a rivalry game the Saltillo Lions are on their home court to host the Sulphur Bluff Bears with playoff positioning on the line. The Sulphur Springs Wildcats and Lady Cats look to keep their district records clean as the boys bring in the Marshall Mavericks to Wildcat Gym. The Sulphur Springs girls will be on the road to take on the Lady Mavs with both games tipping off at 7:30. The Mt Vernon Tigers and Lady Tigers make the trip to Pattonville to face Prairiland. The Cumby Trojans travel to Quinlan to take on Boles. The Campbell Indians go to Martins Mill.
The Dallas Stars hot scoring streak comes to an end last night falling to Toronto, 4-1. The lone Stars goal came from Tyler Seguin late in the second period as Dallas remains at 60 points on the season and still hold the top Wildcard spot in the Western Conference.
NBA All-Star teams have been selected by their respective captains, LeBron James and Steph Curry. The starters for team James include LeBron, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis and Boogie Cousins. Making the start for team Curry will be Steph Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Demar DeRozan, Joel Embiid, and James Harden. NBA All-Star weekend is February 16th-18th.
And Wrestling entertainment pioneer, Vince McMahon, announced the return of the XFL yesterday. The league, which originally opened up for its lone season back in 2001, will consist of eight teams with a ten game regular season schedule.  The XFL will allegedly begin in 2020.
