High School Hoops Plus Zeke Leads All Pro Bowl Voting

Paris – Sunday night, East Texas Broadcasting learned coach Alex Richters was relieved of his duties as Athletic Director and Head Football coach of the Prairiland Patriots. That was confirmed yesterday and Prairiland will begin the search for a new AD in the coming months.

Tonight in high school basketball, a top 20 match up will take place at Wildcat Gym as the 18th ranked Paris Wildcats in class 4A clash with the Mt. Pleasant Tigers, ranked 18th in class 5A. The North Lamar Panthers, meanwhile, host Sulphur Springs. Tip off is at 7:30.

Mount Pleasant – Following a 3rd place finish at the Northeast Lions Club Invitational, the 18th ranked Mt. Pleasant Tigers out of class 5A will travel to Paris to take on the 18th ranked Wildcats from class 4A. The Tigers are 5-1 as they gear up to take on 5-0 Paris. Tip off tonight at Wildcat Gym on the Paris high campus is at 7:30. The Lady Tigers host Pleasant Grove at Willie Williams Gym.

The Mt. Vernon Tiger varsity boys move up to 16th in class 3A after getting off to a hot 3-0 start to their season. Tonight they’ll host the Daingerfield Blue Tigers this evening at 7pm.

Sulphur Springs – Following a 3rd place finish at the Royse City tournament over the weekend, the Sulphur Springs Wildcats will be at home at Wildcat Gym to take on the North Lamar Panthers. Sulphur Springs is off to a hot start with a 6-1 record. Tip off is at 7:30. The Sulphur Springs girls are off tonight. They’ll be on the road at the Edgewood Tournament starting Thursday.

Last night the Dallas Mavericks fall to the Charlotte Hornets 109-101. The Mavs fall to a league worst 4-16 on the season and lost big man Andrew Bogut to a knee injury. Bogut will have an MRI today. Dallas will be back in action tomorrow night against the Kings at 7:30 at the A-A-C.

Only a day after the Dallas Cowboys clinched the first playoff spot in the NFL, the league announced early pro-bowl fan voting. Leading the way, with nearly 700,000 votes, running back Ezekiel Elliott is the top vote getter. Quarterback Dak Prescott is 2nd with just over 600,000 while New England’s Tom Brady is 3rd.

Heisman finalists were released last night. Heading to New York for the Heisman Ceremony will be Quarterbacks, Lamar Jackson of Louisville, Deshaun Watson of Clemson, and Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma. Joining them will be Sooner Wide Receiver Dede Westbrook and Michigan Linebacker Jabrill Peppers. The selection will be made Saturday night.
