High School Hoops Preview Plus Mavs Lose Heartbreaker

Paris – It’ll be the toughest task of the season yet for the Paris Wildcats and Clarksville Tigers.  14th ranked Paris is in the Class 4A, Region 2 tournament at Texas A&M-Commerce. They’ll meet Dallas Lincoln in the region semi-finals tomorrow night in the late game at 8pm.  The game will be carried live on 101.9 KBUS.  The 2nd ranked Clarksville Tigers face top ranked Muenster tomorrow in the early game of the 2A, Region 2 Semis.  Tip off is at 6pm.  Paris and Lincoln go into tomorrow’s game with the same record at 27-4.  Clarksville and Muenster also have identical season records at 29-6.

Mount Pleasant – The Mt. Vernon Lady Tiger basketball team takes the next big step in their question for a state title.  This afternoon at 1:30 on KLAKE 97.7, the Mt. Vernon girls face off with 23rd ranked Buffalo in the semi-finals.  The winner faces either Canadian or Goliad on Saturday at 10am. The boys regional tournaments begin tomorrow night.  Chapel Hill and Mt. Vernon are in the 3A, Region 2 tourney at Rockwall-Heath High School.  The Purple Tigers open up against top ranked Dallas Madison at 6pm.  The Red Devils follow against 8th ranked Prosper at 8.  And the Saltillo Lions play No. 8 Graford Friday night at Mansfield ISD at 7 in the Class A, Region 3 tournament.

Last night the Dallas Mavericks drop a heartbreaker to the Atlanta Hawks, 100-95.  The Mavs grabbed a late 4th quarter lead, until Atlanta went on a 13-5 run to close out the game.  Harrison Barnes lead the Mavs with 25 points.  Seth Curry had 21, while Dirk had an 11 points, 10 rebound double-double.  The Mavs drop to 24-36 on the season and return home to host Memphis tomorrow.
In other NBA news, Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant could miss the remainder of the regular season after suffering a bone bruise and a sprained MCL.  Durant is out indefinitely and will be reevaluated in four weeks.  Golden State currently have the best record in the NBA at 50-10.
And the Texas Rangers drop their fourth straight Cactus League game yesterday, 3-2 to the Angels.  Despite the loss, pitcher A.J. Griffin had a solid outing throwing 3 scoreless innings while giving up only one hit.  The Rangers are 1-5 this spring and return to the diamond today against Oakland at 2:05pm.
