High School Results and Rangers Beat ‘Stros

Paris – Most area baseball and softball games were postponed due to field conditions, but the Paris Wildcats would get their game in at Hub Hollis Field, coming away with a 7-5 win over the Pittsburg Pirates. With the victory Paris baseball improves to 4-3 in district 15-4A to keep on the playoff pace. The North Lamar Pantherette’s dropped a heartbreaker to Pleasant Grove 7-5 on a 3-run walk off home run. The Pantherette’s finish district play at 6-4 and enter the post season as the 3rd seed in the district.

Mount Pleasant – Most area baseball and softball games were postponed due to weather and field conditions, however, the Pittsburg Pirate’s made the trip to Paris where they’d fall to the Wildcats 7-5. Pittsburg softball against the Lady Cats was canceled. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers and Lady Tigers contest against Pine Tree has been postponed. The make up date is still to be determined.

And coming down the stretch of the regular season the NTCC Eagle’s baseball team will host Panola College tomorrow at 3pm.

Sulphur Springs – Most area baseball and softball games were postponed due to weather and field conditions. The Sulphur Springs Wildcats and Lady Cats contest against Hallsville have been postponed and will be made up at a later date. With the cancelations, teams sights will turn to Friday. The Sulphur Springs softball team wraps u p the regular season at home against Pine Tree while the baseball team will be in longview against the Pirates. Meanwhile, the Winnsboro Red Raiders will be on the road against Quitman and the Mt. Vernon Tigers celebrate senior night against Daingerfield.

In Major League Baseball the Texas Rangers win the first game of the season against in state rival Houston, 7-5. Mitch Moreland landed the final punch of the night for the Rangers. Texas and Houston play game two out of three tonight [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm]. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.

Tonight the Dallas Stars play game four of the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs against the Minnesota Wild. The Stars currently hold a 2-1 series lead and have outscored the Wild 9-6 in the series. Puck drop this evening is set for 8:30.

And in the NBA playoffs the San Antonio Spurs crush Memphis 94-68 to take a 2-0 series lead in the first round. And Atlanta beats Boston 89-72 and also lead 2-0. The Dallas Mavericks continue post season play with game three tomorrow night against OKC. The series is tied at one game apiece.
