High School Soccer Plus Mavs and Stars Back in Action

Paris – High school soccer is underway for the Paris Lady Cats. On Tuesday night the Paris girls shut out 6th ranked Kilgore 1-nil behind a goad from Katy Hall. Deagan Dingman provided the assist. In college hoops the Paris Junior College Dragons see a four game win streak snapped falling to Angelina College 76-57 at the Hunt Center. PJC basketball drops to 8-5 overall and 2-4 in Regional 14. Next they’ll take on Jacksonville College at home on Saturday at 4pm.

The I-30 rivalry between Mt. Pleasant and Sulphur Springs heats up on the hardwood tomorrow night. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers and Sulphur Springs Wildcats are the lone remaining unbeaten teams in district 16-5A hoops at 4-0. They’ll meet at Wildcat Gym at Sulphur Springs High School with the winner holding the top spot. The circumstances are identical on the girls side, except the Lady Tigers and Lady Cats each own a 5-0 district mark and will tip off at Willie Williams Gym in Mt. Pleasant. Tip off to both games are set for 7:30.

The Dallas Mavericks and Stars are in action tonight. The Mavs are on the road against the Phoenix Suns. Dallas is 11-27 and in last place in the Western conference. Phoenix is only one game better at 12-26. Tip off is at 9pm. The Stars, meanwhile, will be at the American Airline Center against the Detroit Redwings. Dallas has 42 points on the season while Detroit comes in with 40. Puck drop is at 7:30.

The San Diego Chargers plan to announce they’ll be moving north to join the Rams in Los Angeles. The Chargers have spent 55 of the franchise 56 years of existence in San Diego. The inaugural season in 1961 originated in Los Angeles.

And on Sunday afternoon the Dallas Cowboys play the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs against the Green Bay Packers. Lead by a crop of rookies, including rushing king, Zeke Elliott, Dallas finished as the NFC’s top team at 13-3. While the Cowboys enjoyed a bye in the Wild Card round, Green Bay beat up on the New York Giants 38-13. Kickoff on Sunday afternoon between the Cowboys and Packers [on 101.9 KBUS] is set for 3:40.
