High School Volleyball Playoffs and Football Plus Stars Victorious

Paris – Tonight the North Lamar Panthers host the Paris Wildcats at R. L. Maddox Stadium for the Crosstown Showdown. The game will be on both MIX 107.7 and 101.9 KBUS. Kickoff is at 7:30. The winner is in the playoffs as the Cooper Bulldogs welcome S&S Consolidated to Bulldogs Stadium for our KOYN Game of the Week. The Rivercrest Rebels look to complete a perfect season and capture a district title as they welcome Wolfe City to the Swamp. Honey Grove can still grab a playoff spot. They’ll go up against Simms Bowie. The Chisum Mustangs wrap up the season against Whitewright. And in the area round of the high school volleyball playoffs, the North Lamar Pantherette’s sweep Rusk in straight sets and will take on Emory Rains next, while Detroit beat Gary to advance to the regional quarterfinals. The Roxton Lady Lions were eliminated at the hands of Tioga.

Mount Pleasant – Tonight will be the final week of the regular season in high school football. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers could be playoff bound with a win over Greenville at Sam Parker Field. Kickoff on KLAKE 97.7 is at 7:30. The Star Country Game of the Week will feature the Pittsburg Pirates jocking for playoff position against the Gilmer Buckeyes, looking to secure a district crown. Kickoff on 96.9 is at 7:30. The Daingerfield Tigers can also win a district title with a win at Ore City. Paul Pewitt is in the playoffs with a win at New Diana. And the Mt. Vernon Tigers are done with the regular season. They’ll take on White Oak at Gilmer high school next Thursday at 7pm. In the area round of the high school volleyball playoffs, the Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers saw their season come to an end at the hands of White Oak three games to one. The Chapel Hill Lady Devils face Elysian Fields tonight at Gilmer at 7:15.

Sulphur Springs – Tonight will be the final week of the regular season in high school football. It’s win and you’re in for the Sulphur Springs Wildcats as they host Hallsville at Prim Stadium on Star Country 95.9. Kickoff tomorrow night is at 7:30. The Cooper Bulldogs still have a shot at the post season when they welcome S&S Consolidated to Bulldog Stadium. The Winnsboro Red Raiders take on state power Mineola before beginning post season play. Cumby will be on the road at Clarksville. And the Emory Rains Wildcats still have playoff hopes as they visit Dallas Roosevelt. And the Mt. Vernon Tigers are done with the regular season. They’ll take on White Oak at Gilmer high school next Thursday at 7pm. In the area round of the high school volleyball playoffs, the Emory Rains Lady Cats defeat Henderson to advance to the regional quarterfinals where they’ll take on North Lamar. The Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers saw their season come to an end at the hands of White Oak, three games to one.

Last night the Dallas Stars pick up a huge early season win over St. Louis 6-2. Tyler Seguin had a monster night with four points, all coming on assists. John Klingberg netted a pair of goals for the Stars. With the win, Dallas is 4-4-2 with 10 points on the season. They’ll be back on Ice tomorrow night at the American Airline Center against the Chicago Blackhawks. Puck drop is at 7.

Tonight the Dallas Mavericks continue the search for their first win of the season when they host the Portland Trail Blazers at the A-A-C. Tip off tonight between the Mavs and Blazers is set for 7:30.

And Sunday afternoon the Dallas Cowboys hit the road to take on the Cleveland Browns in Ohio. The Cowboys have won six straight on their way to a 6-1 record while the Browns are winless at 0-8. Kick off on Sunday [on 101.9 KBUS] is set for noon.
