High School Volleyball Plus Rangers Hold On Against Angels

 

Area high school volleyball teams are back on the court tonight.
Paris – The North Lamar Pantherette’s are back on track winning four of their last six. They’ll be on the road to visit the Texas High Lady Tigers in Texarkana. The Paris Lady Cats look to continue their solid start when they host Leonard at Wildcat Gym. The Prairiland Lady Patriots travel to Whitewright and the Chisum Lady Mustangs host Community at Mustang Gym.
Mount Pleasant – The Chapel Hill Lady Devils will be at home this evening as they welcome in Avery. The Mt Pleasant Lady Tigers hit the road to take on Liberty Eylau in Texarkana. And the Pittsburg Lady Pirates make the trip to Mt Vernon to face the Purple Lady Tigers. Match times are all set for 7:00 pm.
Sulphur Springs – In a rivalry game the Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears welcome in the North Hopkins Lady Panthers. Match time this evening is set for 5:00 pm. The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats will be traveling back towards Dallas/Fort Worth as they visit Forney. And the Mt Vernon Lady Tigers welcome in the Pittsburg Lady Pirates to Tiger Gym.
Last night the Texas Rangers take the first game from the LA Angels winning 5-3. Adrian Beltre collected four RBI on the night, including a three run blast in the 3rd inning. Cole Hamels picked up his ninth win of the season. The Rangers are two games back in the American League Wildcard race. Game two of three between the Rangers and Angels is tonight. First pitch [on KPLT 1490am] is set for 9:00 pm.
The Dallas Cowboys make the transition from training camp in Oxnard, California to their first training camp practice of 2017 at the Star in Frisco. Fans were allowed in to view the practice where more than 6,000 people were in attendance. Cowboys rookie wide receiver, Ryan Switzer, was back at practice after missing time with a sore hamstring. The 4th round-pick out of North Carolina hopes to make his NFL debut on Saturday against Oakland.
And the College Football AP preseason polls were released. Alabama stands at No. 1. Ohio State No. 2 while Florida State, USC, and Clemson round out the top five. OU checks in at 7. And the University of Texas ranks No. 23.
