High winds along FM 144 and TX 49 east of Mt Pleasant downed trees and damaged some structures Friday night. The storm’s aftermath was along a three-mile stretch in a rural area. The wind toppled giant trees, many over the roadways that crews had to cut and move to allow traffic to flow. Many of the trees toppled right at the base, with the root system showing, indicative of extremely strong winds.
