Holiday Festivities Around Paris This Weekend

Saving Grace Ministries and David Gillean (hard G) present the “Rockin Rev” Band and Friends in Concert “Southern Rock Gospel Style”. Friday night December 9th at 7 pm at 901 NW 19th Street in Paris.

Annual Lighted Christmas Parade Saturday December 10th. From 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. SMILE is the theme of the 2016 Annual Lighted Christmas Parade. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to start the Christmas and Holiday Season. Parade starts at the Courthouse parking lot and proceeds South on 1st Street SW, East (left) on Clarksville Street at the SW Corner of the Plaza, down Clarksville Street to 12th SE, turn North (left) on 12th SE to Lamar Avenue.  At Lamar Avenue go West (left) back to downtown returning to point of beginning.

The Deport Volunteer Fire Department is having a Deport Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 10th at 2:00 p.m. No entry fees, everyone invited to participate or be a spectator. Paris Education Foundation Reindeer Run Saturday December 10th at 7:00 AM – Paris Education Foundation’s annual Reindeer Run, 1 mile fun run and 5K will be held Saturday, December 3, at the Downtown Community Park/Splash Park. Registration will begin at 7 a.m.  1 mile fun run will start at 8 a.m. and 5K will start at 8:30 a.m.

Breakfast with Santa Saturday December 10th at 9AM – Children must be accompanied by an adult and all people entering facility must have a ticket including infants and grandparents.   Included is a hot pancake breakfast with all the trimmings!  Children will get to pick a gift from under the Christmas tree brought by Santa from the North Pole.  After they tell Santa what they want for Christmas, the Children will have their picture made with Santa.  Santa’s elves will be on hand to help with several holiday crafts to take home and enjoy for years to come.  The magic of Christmas starts here! Tickets are $10.00 for children and $5.00 for adults. Tickets will be sold on a first-come basis and will be limited to a total of 100 children’s tickets.  Ticket sales begin Monday, November 21st.  Tickets can be purchased at the City of Paris Public Works Office, located at 50 W. Wassail Fest Saturday December 10th Downtown Paris -1pm – 6pm Wassail is a delicious hot or cold spiced cider or tea. Please join the Paris Downtown Association and you be the Judge!!  Visit with at least 10 of the participating downtown businesses to be entered into the drawing for Door Prizes.  Taste their Wassail, sample their snacks and you decide who wins the Traveling Wassail Master Trophy this year!!! Look for the balloons at participating locations!!

Christmas at the Maxey House Saturday December 10th from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM.  Sam Bell Maxey House State Historic Site 812 South Church Street. Stop by the Sam Bell Maxey House State Historic Site on Saturday, December 10th from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. to participate in “Christmas at the Maxey House.” Visitors will step into a Victorian family’s home in the midst of preparing for and celebrating Christmas. Come learn about past Christmas traditions from the late 1800s and see how today’s Christmas is both different and similar to a Victorian family’s Christmas. During the program, visitors will have numerous opportunities to participate in traditional Victorian Christmas crafts as they explore the historic house. $4.00/adult. $3.00/ children 6-18.
