Holland Returns For Rangers Tonight Plus Cowboys Work in Frisco

Paris – Area volleyball teams will be back in action this evening. The North Lamar Pantherette’s host their first home game of the season against Texas High, Prairiland hosts Whitewright, and Detroit is at Redwater at 6:30pm. The Paris Lady Cats visit Leonard at 6. The Chisum Lady Mustangs visit Community at 7 and Roxton will welcomes Trinity Christian Academy at 5.

Mount Pleasant – Area volleyball teams will be back in action this evening. The Mt. Pleasant Lady Tigers will host the Liberty Eylau Lady Leopards at Willie Williams gym. Match time is at 6:30. The Chapel Hill Lady Devils visit Avery and Mt. Vernon is at Sulphur Springs at 6pm. The Pittsburg Lady Pirates visit the Hughes Springs Lady Mustangs and Rivercrest is at New Boston at 6:30. The Daingerfield Lady Tigers visit Clarksville and Paul Pewitt visits Maud at 5:30.

Sulphur Springs – Area volleyball teams will be back in action this evening. The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats will host the Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers at Wildcat gym at 6pm. Emory Rains will host Commerce at 6:30. The countdown continues to week 1 off the high school football season. The Sulphur Springs Wildcats host Sherman at Prim Stadium. The Cooper Bulldogs hit the road to take on Farmersville. Commerce will travel to Lone Oak. Como Pickton is at Grand Saline. Winnsboro will visit West Rusk. Emory Rains will host Quinlan Ford and Mt. Vernon will be on the road at Caddo Mills.

The Associated Press released their pre-season top 25 in college football. Alabama will start as the nations top ranked team, followed by Clemson, Oklahoma, Florida State and LSU. TCU ranks number 13, Houston number 15, and Baylor at 23.

The Dallas Cowboys held their first practice at their new facility in Frisco yesterday. Running back, Lance Dunbar, was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list and returned to practice along with rookie running back Zeke Elliott. Both are expected to see time on the field on Thursday when the Cowboys take on the Seattle Seahawks. Kick off Thursday night [on 101.9 KBUS] is set for 9pm.

And the Texas Rangers return to action tonight after a day off yesterday. They’ll be in Cincinnati to take on the Reds in a short two game set. Derek Holland has been activated from the disabled list and will make his first start today since June 20th. The Rangers optioned pitcher Nick Martinez to AAA-Round Rock to make room on the roster for Holland. First pitch tonight between the Rangers and Reds [on kplt 1490am and 96.3fm] is set for 6:10.
