Despite earning the number one seed and hosting the LSC Tournament. The Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball team lost a heartbreaking five-set match to Texas Woman University on Thursday night. After falling behind 2-0, the Lions caught fire late but could not get enough push in the final set to pull out the comeback. The loss brings the Lions to 24-6 on the season and they are eliminated from the LSC Tournament. TWU improves to 17-14 on the year and they advance to the semifinal round. The Lions now await their fate in the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament. The NCAA Division II Volleyball Selection Show will air on Monday at 7:30 pm.
The Dallas Stars won their fifth game in a row as they defeated Winnipeg 5-3 on home ice last night. Dallas led 3-0 before the Jets came back to tie the game. Jamie Benn got the go-ahead goal with less than five minutes to play and Tyler Seguin secured the win with an empty Netter. Dallas hosts Chicago on Saturday.

The 9-1 New England Patriots host the 6-4 Dallas Cowboys on Sunday in a matchup of two of the NFL’s marquee franchises, and quarterback Tom Brady had something very interesting to say at his press conference this week. “I’ve really not liked the Cowboys since coming out of the womb,” he said with a touch of humor. He grew up a 49ers fan. Brady is 4-0 against the Cowboys in his career. Dallas Cowboys’ linebacker Leighton Vander Esch will not play Sunday against the New England Patriots because of a neck injury and is considered week to week. Game time at Gillette Stadium is 3:25 pm on FOX.
Cleveland Browns’ defensive end Myles Garrett’s indefinite suspension has been upheld and the Pittsburgh Steelers’ center Maurkice Pouncey’s ban has been reduced to two games following appeals, the NFL announced Thursday. The Garrett decision, made by appeals officer James Thrash, means he will be suspended without pay for at least the remainder of the 2019 season. Garrett will have to meet with the commissioner’s office before being reinstated. Garrett had also accused Mason Rudolph of using a racial slur, but, that could not be proven.
The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms on a four-year, $73 million contract with free-agent All-Star catcher Yasmani Grandal, the team announced Thursday. It is the biggest contract in the history of the White Sox franchise. Grandal, 31, will receive $18.25 million per season through 2023.
