So, tomorrow is the day!!!  Friday, September 16th, is the deadline to enter the stew contest and KEEP YOUR SITE from last year.  On Monday, September 19th, you may come by the Chamber and choose a new site based on availability.  Cooks may sign up any time after the 16th, but they will have to choose a new site.  The 47th Annual Stew Cook-off is scheduled for Saturday, October 22nd, and that will be here before you know it!!

Fall Festival is selling tickets for the October 22nd Hometown Sounds Concert featuring Hannah Kirby

Tickets went on sale Thursday, September 1st for the Hannah Kirby and Mansion Family Hometown Sounds Concert on October 22nd.  Tickets are on sale online at www.outhousetickets.com and cost $17.50 each.  The concert will be held in the Civic Center Auditorium.

Careerify hosted a ribbon cutting celebration on Wednesday, September 14th at noon

One of Hopkins County’s newest businesses hosted its ribbon cutting celebration on Wednesday, September 14th at noon at the Chamber of Commerce.  Careerify is a company that helps individuals and students discover their career paths and locate appropriate internships and mentors. This is a novel idea for Careerify, and we are excited to welcome them to the Chamber of Commerce and to Hopkins County!

Lone Star Quilt Guild currently selling raffle tickets for the 17th Annual Quilt Show

The Lone Star Quilt Guild is currently selling raffle tickets for the 2016 Raffle Quilt called Autumn Stars. Autumn Stars was designed by Joy Gregory, made by guild members, and quilted by Debra Hager.  Tickets are 1 for $1 or 6 for $5.  The 17th Annual Quilt Show will be held September 16th and 17th at The ROC, First Baptist Church Outreach Center at 115 Putman Street in Sulphur Springs.  We have tickets available here at the Chamber of Commerce, or you may purchase tickets from Quilt Guild members.

The Lights of Life Style Show is scheduled for Thursday, September 15th at 6:30 p.m.

The HC Health Care Foundation is hosting its annual Lights of Life Style Show tonight on Thursday, September 15th at 6:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church.  Entry fee is a $25 donation and there will be door prizes and a raffle.  Dinner and Fashions will be provided by Lou Nells.  For ticket information contact the Foundation office at (903)438-4799 or Lou Nell’s at (903)885-0664.

The Fall Festival Carnival will be in town September 14th through the 17th

There has been a change this year regarding the Fall Festival Carnival.  The carnival will be in town for SSHS’s Homecoming weekend!  The carnival will be located in the Sulphur Springs High School parking lot and will begin on Wednesday, September 14th and go through Saturday evening, September 17th.  Tickets are for sale at the carnival and cost $25.

POW/MIA Day combined with Del Francis’ Proclamation will be held on Friday, September 16th at 9 a.m.

The coalition will be at Celebration Plaza Friday, September 16th for POW/MIA Day. The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. when Mayor Emily Glass will present Del Francis with a proclamation for his effort and commitment during his Ride for Recognition. He made sure that the 74 sailors lost in the collision of the Evans and Melborne on June 3rd, 1969, will have their names added to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in DC. Please make plans to gather at Celebration Plaza at 9 a.m., Friday, September 16th, to show our gratitude and support of all the MIA and POW’s who gave so much for our freedom. We also want to again thank Del Francis for his successful ride to Washington!

Chili’s will host a Pancake Breakfast to benefit St. Jude’s on Saturday, September 17th from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Are you hungry for pancakes?  Chili’s will host a pancake breakfast benefiting St. Jude’s Research Hospital on Saturday, September 17th from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.  Tickets are $6 each and include two fluffy pancakes, two pieces of bacon, a side of strawberry puree, and syrup.  Every dollar raised will be donated to help build a school at St. Jude’s Research Hospital to benefit children with cancer.  Chili’s is located at 928 Shannon Road East in Sulphur Springs.  Make plans to eat delicious pancakes and support a very worthy cause.

Beauty Grace Boutique will host a Grand Opening on Saturday, September 17th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

One of the Chamber’s newest businesses, Beauty Grace Boutique, is hosting their Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, September 17th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Beauty Grace invites you to sip, snack, and shop to celebrant the grand opening of their new shop.  Beauty Grace is located at 1010 Bill Bradford Road, Suite #21 in Sulphur Springs.  She will honor a 15% off coupon during the event!!!

The Bookworm Box is hosting a multi-author book signing from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 17th

The Bookworm Box is hosting a book signing event from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 17th.  This is special event to meet your favorite authors, get books signed, take pictures and have a fun day! The event is FREE and first come, first served. Authors on hand include: Fisher Amelie, Leighton Riley, Michelle Mankin, ME Carter, Susan Stoker, Cathlin Shahriary, Leslie Fear, Dawn L. Reilly Springs Jamboree will host Ace Deuce and Expedition Texas on Saturday, September 17th at 7 p.m.

Talk about a night of entertainment!  The Reilly Springs Jamboree will host the Ace Deuce Band with Jack Phillips as well as Expedition Texas on Saturday, September 17th at 7 p.m.  Expedition Texas Scout Bob Mauldin will perform an acoustic set and live taping that night.  You will be able to watch the syndicated travel and music television program on Dallas TV Channel 47.  For more information, contact Enola Gay at (903)438-3568 or Roger Reed at (903)348-7114.  The Reilly Springs Community Center is located at 109 CR 1439 in Sulphur Springs.

Ribbon Cutting for Access Physicians on Tuesday, September 20th at 5 p.m.

Access Physicians Multispecialty Clinic of Sulphur Springs will be hosting their ribbon cutting celebration on Tuesday, September 20th at 5 p.m.  They are located at 107 Medical Circle.  Access Physicians Multispecialty Clinic serves the traditional brick-and-mortar clinic with telemedicine, connecting rural patients and staff to urban specialties.  They provide Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Neurology, and Psychiatry services.

Workforce Solutions will host its annual LEAP Conference on September 23rd from 9 a.m. to 12 noon

Workforce Solutions of Northeast Texas is hosting its annual LEAP (Learning Endorsements and Professions) Youth Expo on Friday, September 23rd.  This event is very much like a job fair except that it is geared to educate eighth graders and help guide them as they make their endorsement selections heading into high school.  Workforce Solutions is seeking a wide variety of companies and businesses to attend the LEAP Youth Expo to describe your business and expose eighth graders to all career avenues after graduation.  Since students now choose their high school endorsements while in eighth grade, the Expo is perfect for them.  Please consider attending this Expo and taking visuals and information to give away.  They will be so thankful to have you there!  Please call Bart Spivy at (903)794-9490 ext. 513 with any questions.

Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab will host a Back the Blue Benefit on Friday, September 23rd from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  They will be selling baked potatoes, cookies, and water for $7.  You must RSVP your order by 9/21 to Chelsea at (903)335-1125.  All proceeds got to Sulphur Springs Police Department to help fund new safety equipment.

Downtown Business Association will sponsor The 7th Annual Photo Walk, October 1st from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The Downtown Business Association will sponsor the 7th Annual Photo Walk on Saturday, October 1, 2016, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.  Bobby McDonald will lead the event.  Please meet at Plain & Fancy.  Pictures will be taken of the beautiful downtown and the Historical Museum.  This fun, exciting event is FREE to everyone interested.  The trolley will transport photographers to the museum and back. Lights of Life 3rd Annual Half Marathon is scheduled for Saturday, October 1st from 7:30 a.m. to noon

The Lights of Life 3rd Annual Half Marathon benefitting the HC Health Care Foundation is scheduled for Saturday, October 1st from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Celebration Plaza.  Registration fees are $75 for individuals (13.1 miles), $80 2 Person Partner Relay ($40 per participant, 6.5 miles each), and $100 for a 4 Person Team Relay ($25 per participant, 3.28 miles each).  You may register online at www.getmeregistered.com/lightsoflifehalf or by dropping off an entry form at Fieldhouse Sports or the Health Care Foundation.  Checks should be made out to the HC Foundation.

Stand Up to Cancer Fashion Show to be held on Tuesday, October 4th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Marlene’s Sass & Class Boutique, Beauty Grace Boutique, and The Venue at two nineteen are hosting a Stand Up to Cancer Fashion Show on Tuesday, October 4th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Entry fee is a $5 minimum donation, and the fashion show will be held at The Venue, 219 Main Street in Sulphur Springs.

NETBIO’s Cattleman’s Classic and Ribeye Roundup is slated for Friday, October 7th beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Get ready for the 2nd Annual Cook-off and Dinner presented by NETBIO on Celebration Plaza on Friday, October 7th.  The steak dinner tickets are $25 each and include a steak, baked potato, salad, and dessert.  The free concert begins at 3:30 p.m. with Matt DunnSarah Hobbs follows at 5:30 p.m., and Jake Hooker & The Outsiders will perform at 8:00 p.m.  For additional information, visit www.facebook.com/ribeyeroundup. The 9th Annual Help-A-Child Tractor Pull and Cook-off will be held Saturday, October 8th at 9 a.m.

Help-A-Child will host their 9th Annual Tractor Pull with a Chili and Brisket Cook-off on Saturday, October 8th beginning at 9 a.m. at the Hopkins County Civic Center.  The Antique Tractor Pull and Show will begin at 9 a.m.  There is no admission fee, but donations will be accepted for the charities.  The Chili Cook-off begins at 11:30 a.m. with all you can eat chili and Dutch Oven cobbler for $5.  There will be a Live Public Auction at noon, and the Brisket Cook-off begins at 3 p.m.  The winners of the Brisket Cook-off will be announced at 5 p.m.  The Stone Groove Band will play at 5 p.m. featuring Sadie Evans, the 2016 Hopkins County Dairy Festival Queen. Finally, the Hot-Rod Garden Tractor Pull will be held at 6 p.m.  Tickets for that are $10 and will be sold at the door beginning at 4 p.m.  The Help-A-Child benefit is conducted by the Sulphur Bluff Masonic Lodge #246, the Sulphur Springs Masonic Lodge #221, the Hopkins Masonic Lodge #180, and the Delta Masonic Lodge #1240.

The Senior Citizens Center will host a Walk to Remember on Thursday, October 6th at 6 p.m.

The Senior Citizens Center will host a Walk to Remember benefiting Terrific Tuesdays on Thursday, October 6th at 6 p.m.  The Walk will be held at The Gardens at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs.  The goal is to pause and remember friends and loved ones affected by Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, Senility, and Stroke.  There is a $20 registration fee that includes a t-shirt.  Sponsor booths with information and goodies will be in attendance.  For more information, contact Karon Weatherman at (903) 885-1661.  Terrific Tuesdays meets each Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 2p.m. at First United Methodist Church.
