Hopkins County Commissioners Court punished the Brinker Volunteer Fire Department Monday for self-dispatching to an emergency call rather than going through dispatch. The reason for the action was that if there were injuries or property damage on a self-dispatched, the county insurance would not pay. The county will withhold $400 from the department’s monthly payment.
Hopkins County Commissioners have given the OK to Civic Center Manager Lonnie Fox to purchase new panels for the Civic Center’s livestock pens. The current dividers are 30-40 years old. The new panels will be purchased from Priefert Ranch Equipment in Mt. Pleasant at the cost of $81,000 through a TIPS contract.
