The Hopkins County Commissioners Court has approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the East Texas Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. The council’s mission is to provide recovery support services and reduce substance use through education and intervention.
Hopkins County Commissioners have re-authorized the county grant program for the Texas Department of Agriculture Home-Delivered Meal Grant Program. More commonly known as Meals on Wheels, the program has continued to operate throughout the COVID pandemic and serves noon-time meals to seniors and disabled individuals throughout the county.
Hopkins County Commissioners have approved a Johnson & Johnson Opioid Settlement agreement. As a result, the county will receive just over $39,000 in a lump payment instead of installment payments over a specified period as part of the settlement. Meanwhile, local counties and cities will also receive allocations from the state’s $290 Million Opioid Settlement.
