Emergency sirens sounded in Sulphur Springs Friday afternoon after a tornado was spotted on State Highway 19 at FM 1567, traveling from southwest Hopkins County to Northeast of the county. They reported no damage or injuries in the city, but it destroyed at least four houses in the Miller Grove area. In addition, a barn was heavily damaged in the Pickton area, trapping some animals, but first responders rescued them.
Hopkins County Engine 20 and North Hopkins firefighters responded to Lamar County for mutual aid. There was no damage reported in Sulphur Springs.
