After receiving several complaints, Hopkins County Deputies, with the assistance of the SPCA, executed a search warrant on FM 2285 and seized as many as 50 live dogs from the house and several outbuildings. Further investigation led to the discovery of 50 dead puppies, grown dogs and animal tissue in a freezer. They arrested 29-year-old Elizabeth Ann Karst and 62-year-old Deborah Ann Troutt on misdemeanor animal cruelty charges but a further investigation could lead to felony charges in the case.
