Paris – A pair of teams remain in the high school baseball and softball playoffs. The North Lamar Panthers are seeking a regional finals appearance while the Pantherette’s are looking to punch their ticket to Austin. In the softball regional finals North Lamar will take on district 15-4A rival, Pleasant Grove. All games can be heard live on MIX 107.7. Game one is Thursday at Texas A&M-Commerce at 7pm. Game two is Friday at 6pm and game three would follow if necessary.

The Panther baseball team will take on 2nd ranked Argyle in a best of three series. Games on KOYN 93.9 will begin on Friday in Prosper at 6:30. Game two is Saturday at 3pm and game three would follow if needed.

Mount Pleasant – Mt. Pleasant High School will host the first Students Sports Physical Clinic Friday, May 27th at Willie Williams Gym from 2:30pm to 6pm. Schools around Titus County and Titus Regional Medical Center have joined together to help ensure that local student athletes get their physicals done. The free clinic will be open to all students from Mt. Pleasant, Chapel Hill, Winfield and Harts Bluff from the 7th grade and up.

Meanwhile, the Mt. Pleasant ISD fishing team, in it’s first year, will send a pair of squads to the state finals, to be held June 17, 18, and 19th. Blake Denson, Colton Guest along with Boat Captain Al Denson make up a team. Michael Cortzez, John Blaylock and Boat Captain Bobby Sloan make up the other.

Sulphur Springs – The annual Blue and White football scrimmage at Sulphur Springs Prim Stadium is scheduled to be played tomorrow night at 6pm. However, with weather concerns moving into the area a secondary plan is in place to move the game to Friday. And should the weather then be a factor on Friday evening the next plan would be to move the practice game to Tuesday, May 31st, again at 6. On Saturday the team will head to Marshall to take part in a tournament at East Texas Baptist University, sponsored by the Division 3 school.

The Texas Rangers bounce back to beat the LA Angels 4-1. The big swing of the night came from the Big Chill Nomar Mazara. Mazara went 3 for 3 with a pair of RBI’s on a two run homer and a pair of runs scored. The Rangers are now 26-20 on the season and stand in 2nd place in the AL West behind Seattle. Texas and LA will play the rubber match of their series this afternoon on KPLT 1490am and 96.3 fm. First pitch is at 1:05pm.

In the NBA playoffs, the OKC Thunder crush the Golden State Warriors, once again, 118-94 to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the West Finals. Thunder guard Russell Westbrook had a 36 points, 11 rebound, 11 assist triple-double, while Kevin Durant dropped in a 26 point, 11 rebound double-double. Oklahoma City will try to close out the series tomorrow night at 8pm. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors play game five tonight with the Eastern Conference Finals knotted at two games apiece. Tip off this evening is set for 7:30.

And the Dallas Cowboys completed their first day of Organized Team Activities yesterday with one notable omission. Guard Ronald Leary did not show up and has reportedly asked the team for a trade.
