Paris – Tomorrow night district play begins for the Paris Wildcat and North Lamar Panther basketball teams in the Crosstown Showdown at Wildcat Gym. The game can be heard live on 101.9 KBUS with tipoff set for 5pm. The Paris and North Lamar girls square off tonight at Paris High at 7:30. Prairiland is at Cooper while Chisum hosts Chapel Hill.

In the first day of the Paris High Kings Classic soccer tournament the Paris Lady Cats throttle Bonham 5-nil. The Paris boys drew level with Pleasant grove nil-nil, while the North Lamar Panthers defeated Terrell 1-nil. Tournament play continues today.

Mount Pleasant – The I30 rivalry between Mt. Pleasant and Sulphur Springs heats up on the hardwood tomorrow night. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers and Sulphur Springs Wildcats are the lone remaining unbeaten teams in district 16-5A hoops at 4-0. They’ll meet at Wildcat Gym at Sulphur Springs High School with the winner holding the top spot. The circumstances are identical on the girls side, except the Lady Tigers and Lady Cats each own a 5-0 district mark and will tip off at Willie Williams Gym in Mt. Pleasant. Tip off to both games are set for 7:30. Chapel Hill hoops will be on the road at Chisum.

Yesterday in the Rockwall tournament the Mt. Pleasant soccer team throttled Dallas Kimball 5-1 for their 4th win on the young season. They also drew level with McKinney North 1-1. Today they’ll take on Rockwall Heath at 6:30.

The Sulphur Springs Lady Cat soccer team took down Mabank at the Paris Kings Classic tournament 2-nil. The Lady Cats improve to 2-1-1 on the season and continue tournament play today. The Sulphur Springs boys are at the Rockwall tournament.

The Dallas Mavericks win on the road over Phoenix 113-108. Six Mavs scored in double figures with Deon Williams leading the way with 23 points and 12 assists. The Mavs are 12-27 on the season and return to the court on Sunday against Minnesota.

On the ice, the Stars handle the Detroit Redwings 5-2. The win gives the Stars a 18-17-8 record with 44 points on the season. Up next will be a meeting with the Minnesota Wild tomorrow night at 7pm at the A-A-C.

And on Sunday afternoon the Dallas Cowboys take on the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs. The home team has won the last six post season meetings between the two teams. Kickoff between the Cowboys and Packers Sunday afternoon [on 101.9 KBUS] is set for 3:40.
