HS Basketball Plus Rangers Sign Ross

Paris – District play in high school hoops picks back up tonight in the Red River Valley. The Chisum Mustangs are 3-2 and can move up the district standings as they host the Mt. Vernon Tigers. The Lady Mustangs tip off at 6pm. The boys will follow. The 16th ranked Paris Wildcat and Lady Cats head to Texarkana to take on Pleasant Grove while the North Lamar boys and girls varsity basketball teams travel to Atlanta. The 4th ranked Clarksville Tigers will host Linden-Kildare starting at 7.

Mount Pleasant – District play continues tonight for area teams. The Chapel Hill Red Devils and Lady Devils both enter tonight’s contest state ranked. The boys hold down the 24th spot with a 4-0 district record and 19-4 overall. The Lady Devils are 14th in class 3A with their 21-5 record and 4-2 district mark. Tonight they’ll be on the road against Como-Pickton. The Mt. Vernon Tigers are 16-1 and will be in Paris to take on the Chisum Mustangs while the 7th ranked Lady Tigers take on the Lady Mustangs. The girls tip off at 6pm. The boys will follow.

Sulphur Springs – District play continues for area basketball teams. The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats appear at number 20 in the class 5A rankings with an overall record of 20-3 and 6-0 in district 16-5A. They’ll welcome the Greenville Lady Lions tonight at Wildcat Gym, meanwhile, the Wildcat boys are 3-1 in district 16-5A with a 12-4 overall record. They’ll be on the road against the Greenville. Both games tip off at 7:30. The Mt. Vernon Tigers are 16-1 and will be in Paris to take on the Chisum Mustangs while the 7th ranked Lady Tigers take on the Lady Mustangs. The girls tip off at 6pm. The boys will follow.

Tonight the Dallas Mavericks and Stars will be in action. The Mavs will travel to the windy city to take on Dwyane Wade, Jimmy Butler and the Chicago Bulls. The Mavs are 13-27 on the season and remain in the cellar of the Southwest Division. Tip off tonight in Chicago is set for 7pm.

The Stars will be looking to bounce back after last night’s 4-1 loss to the Sabers, they’ll be at Madison Square Garden to face the New York Rangers. The Stars are 18-19-8 with 44 points and in fifth place in the Central Division. Puck drop is at 6.

Over the weekend the Texas Rangers came to a one year agreement with 29 year old right handed starting pitcher, Tyson Ross. After only one start a season ago, Ross missed the 2015 season after Thoracic Outlet surgery. Ross’ one year agreement with the Rangers is worth $6 million.
