In basketball last night the North Lamar Pantherettes defeated Commerce 47–21 while the Prairiland Lady Patriots defeated Detroit 64–24.

Both the Paris Wildcats and the Cooper Bulldogs were mentioned as potential sleeper picks in this year’s state playoffs by Dave Campbell’s Football website.

Both will be on our sister stations during the playoffs. Paris will play Dallas Carter on Friday night. That game will be played in Denison at 7:30 and will be broadcast on 101.9 KBUS.

The Cooper Bulldogs will be on Mix 107.7 Friday when they play Winona in Mt. Pleasant. That game also starts at 7:30.

Mt Vernon vs Tatum at Gilmer–Thursday 7:00 pm on KLAKE 97.7, Pittsburg vs Nevada Community at Greenville is Thursday 7:00 pm on STAR 96.9, Hughes Springs vs Gladewater at Hallsville is Friday 7:30 pm on STAR 96.9, Paul Pewitt vs Newton at Carthage, Friday at 7:30 pm on KLAKE 97.7 and Daingerfield vs Anderson-Shiro at Athens—Thursday 7:30 pm.

The Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball team jumped two spots to No. 20 in the latest coaches’ poll. It is the 11th consecutive week the Lions have been nationally ranked.

The Lions won the Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship last week it is the first LSC Championship for the program since 1987. The Lions are one of the hottest teams in the nation, having won 21 of their last 22 matches.

The Mavs are back in action tonight at home against the Utah Jazz. Tip-off is at 7:30.

Le’Veon Bell has officially left $14.5 million on the table. The All-Pro running back failed to report to Pittsburgh Steelers headquarters Tuesday at 4:00 pm ET, the deadline for him to play this season on the franchise tag. Bell, who’s currently in Pittsburgh, is missing the season to preserve his long-term viability for a 2019 contract despite telling ESPN on Oct. 1 that he would play in 2018.

Former Cleveland Browns coach Hue Jackson is returning to the Bengals coaching staff this week for a third stint in Cincinnati, having been named special assistant to the head coach. The Bengals fired defensive coordinator Teryl Austin on Monday after a 51-14 blowout loss to the Saints, and Lewis took over defensive play calling. As an offensive mind, Jackson can take up some slack on that side of the ball.

The NFL has decided to move Monday’s game between the Chiefs and Rams from Mexico City to Los Angeles because of poor field conditions at Estadio Azteca. Players had strongly considered not playing if the NFL had opted to keep the game in Mexico City. The issue is that soccer games and concerts have left the field inside Estadio Azteca a mess. The much-anticipated matchup of 9-1 teams will now be played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Monday Night Football

The College Football Playoff poll was released last night with no changes. Alabama is 1st, Clemson is at No. 2, Notre Dame is 3rd, Michigan is 4th, Georgia is 5th, followed by Oklahoma, LSU and Washington State.
