HS Football And Volleyball Plus Rangers Hire New Manager

Crosstown showdown Friday night turned into a defensive struggle as both offenses couldn’t get anything going. In the end, Paris defeated North Lamar 21–0.

The Wildcats finished the season 7–2 and will be the second place team heading into the playoffs after a bye this week. The Panthers have one more game this Friday at Melissa.

In other football action Friday, Cooper easily handled Leonard 55–6. It was Rivercrest coming from behind to defeat Como Pickton 28–23.

It was Blue Ridge over Prairiland 62–20. Clarksville defeated James Bowie 39–21 and Detroit was all over Mt Enterprise 56–22.

In area volleyball action over the weekend, the North Lamar Pantherettes defeated Van in five games. North Lamar trailed two games to one before rallying for the win.

North Lamar will play Farmersville on Tuesday night at 7:00 pm at the Sulphur Springs high school. That game can be heard on Mix 107.7.

In other area games, the Prairiland Lady Patriots lost to Troup in three sets.

The Texas Rangers have hired Los Angeles Dodgers third-base Coach Chris Woodward as their new manager, the team announced Saturday. Woodward received a three-year contract with a club option for 2022. He is to be introduced at a news conference today.

Week nine of the NFL schedule concludes tonight in Arlington as the Dallas Cowboys host the Tennessee Titans.
