HS Football Championship Day One Results Plus Cowboys Vs Bucs Sunday

Paris – Area teams will be in action tonight in high school basketball. The 18th ranked Paris Wildcats travel to Hugo, while the Lady Cats host Bonham at Wildcat Gym. The North Lamar Panthers go to Idabel and the Pantherette’s host the Lady Warriors. The Prairiland Patriots will be at Trenton as the unbeaten Prairiland girls are in district 13-3A play at home against Winnsboro. And the Chisum Mustangs are at Roxton. The Lady Mustangs have a bye.

Mount Pleasant – Area teams will be back in action tonight in high school basketball. The Chapel Hill Red Devils began the Martins Mill tournament yesterday, picking up a 59-52 win over Graford. Tournament play continues today for the Red Devils. The 7th ranked Lady Devils travel to Cooper this evening. The 20th ranked Mt. Pleasant Tigers travel to the outskirts of Tyler to face Whitehouse. 16th ranked Mt. Vernon Tigers hosts New Diana and the 6th ranked Lady Tigers are at Como Pickton.

Sulphur Springs – Area teams will be back in action tonight in high school basketball. The Sulphur Springs Wildcats are 12-2 on the season and host Royse City at Sulphur Springs Middle School. The Lady Cats are 1-0 in district play. They’ll host Hallsville at the high school gym. The 16th ranked Mt. Vernon Tigers hosts New Diana and the 6th ranked Lady Tigers look for their 2nd win in district 13-3A at Como Pickton.

Four Texas high school football state champions were crowned. The first game of the morning saw Bremond’s Rashauud Paul becomes the state’s all time winningest quarterback as his team beats Iraan 49-28 in class 2A Division II. Refugio beats Crawford 23-20 in Class 2A Division I. Gunter demolishes Boling 43-7 in 3A DII while Mineola wins over Yoakum 35-14.

Today’s title games at AT&T Stadium will feature Class 4A Division II top ranked West Orange-Stark against Sweetwater at noon. The Carthage Bulldogs look for their fifth state championship since 2008. They’ll take on the Wylie Bulldogs at approximately 4pm in class 4A Division I. And capping off the night, top ranked Aledo in class 5A division II is up against Corpus Christi Calallen at 8 tonight. State championship games wrap up tomorrow with Class 5A division I and Class 6A.

The Dallas Cowboys look to bounce back on Sunday night against the Tampa Bay Bucs. The Cowboys still have the NFL’s best record at 11-2. Ezekiel Elliott continues to lead the league in rushing with nearly 1,400 yards. Jameis Winston and Tampa Bay have been hot, winning five straight and seven of their last nine. Kickoff to Sunday Night Football [on 101.9 KBUS] is at 7:30.
