Paris – Area teams are winding down the regular season in high school football. District 7-4A champion Paris dominates Anna 41-0. North Lamar locks up a playoff spot after beating Quinlan Ford 41-20. Rivercrest stays undefeated, beating Simms 35-8. Detroit falls to Cumby 40-6, but are still playoff bound. Cooper drops to Whitewright 44-12. The Chisum Mustangs lose to Leonard 48-12. Prairiland is routed by S&S Consolidated 68-6. And Honey Grove falls to Quinlan Boles 14-12. Volleyball playoffs begin today and tomorrow with the bi-district round. Tonight Prairiland will take on New Boston at 7pm at Mt. Vernon high school. Tomorrow on MIX 107.7 North Lamar faces Wills Point in Greenville at 7:30. Paris will also be at Greenville playing Mabank at 6. Chisum takes on Hooks at Mt. Pleasant high school at 6 as well.

The Paul Pewitt Brahmas continue fighting for a playoff spot with a 47-16 win over Queen City. The Mt. Vernon Tigers are in the playoffs, but fall to Farmersville 21-12. The Pittsburg Pirates fall to Gladewater 26-15. And the Gilmer Buckeyes win over Atlanta 47-28. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers had a bye this week. They’ll face Greenville for a shot at the post season. High school volleyball playoffs begin this week. In the bi-district round a pair of local teams square off as they Paul Pewitt Lady Brahmas take on the Chapel Hill Lady Devils tomorrow night at Mt. Pleasant high school at 8pm. Mt. Vernon will face Queen City.
Sulphur Springs – Area teams are winding down the regular season in high school football. The Sulphur Springs Wildcats keep their playoff hopes alive, beating rival Greenville 28-7. Sulphur Springs is in a four way tie for 3rd place in district 16-5A. The Cumby Trojans were dominant over Detroit 40-6, improving to 2-1 in district. The Mt. Vernon Tigers are in the post season, but they fall to Farmersville 21-12. The Cooper Bulldogs lose to Whitewright 44-12 and will play S&S Consolidated for a playoff spot in week 11 and the Emory Rains Wildcats fall to Canton 40-29.
High school volleyball playoffs begin this week. In the bi-district round the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats take on Forney tomorrow night at Edgewood high school at 7pm. And the Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers face Queen City.
Last night the Dallas Cowboys beat the Philadelphia Eagles 29-23 in overtime. Zeke Elliott accounted for 148 total yards while Dak Prescott threw the game winning touchdown to Jason Witten. Dallas improves to 6-1 on the season and hold a two game lead in the NFC East. Philly drops to 4-3. The Cowboys will take on the Cleveland Browns this weekend.
The Dallas Mavericks continue to struggle out of the gate, losing to Houston 93-92. Dirk sat the last two games with an illness. The Mavs fall to 0-3 and will take on Utah on the road on Wednesday.
And in the World Series, the Chicago Cubs stay alive winning game five over Cleveland 3-2. Third baseman, Kris Bryant homered for the Cubbies, who still trail the series three games to two to the Indians. Game six is back in Cleveland tomorrow night at 7pm.
