HS Football Scrimmages Plus Rangers Move Closer to Wild Card

Area high school football team’s scrimmage continues tonight.
Paris – The Chisum Mustangs will be at Paris High’s Wildcat Stadium against the Clarksville Tigers. The Prairiland Patriots host the Detroit Eagles. Rivercrest will visit Tom Bean, and the Hugo Buffalos are on the road to face Tishomingo.
Mount Pleasant – The Mt Pleasant Tigers play their final scrimmage before starting the 2017 football season.  They’ll travel to Texarkana to tune up against the Pleasant Grove Hawks this evening. The Lady Tiger volleyball team is playing in the Waco Robinson Tournament this weekend, while the Chapel Hill Lady Devils go to Morris County for the Paul Pewitt Tournament.
Sulphur Springs – The Sulphur Springs Wildcats play their lone scrimmage tonight before beginning the regular season next weekend. The Wildcats travel to Texarkana to take on Liberty Eylau. The Lady Cat volleyball team continues tournament play tomorrow in Tyler. The North Hopkins Lady Panther volleyball squad visits Dodd City tonight.
Last night the Texas Rangers shut out the LA Angels 3-0 to take three out of four in the series. The big blast of the night was, of course, who else, but Drew Robinson with Brett Nicholas on board. The Rangers are now only one game out of a Wildcard spot in the American League. Half a game behind Seattle, LA and Kansas City and a full game back of Minnesota. The Rangers continue their west coast trip with a weekend series against the Oakland A’s. First pitch tonight [on KPLT 1490am] is set for 9:05.
The Dallas Cowboys play their dress rehearsal game on Saturday against the Oakland Raiders. Meaning a majority of starters are expected to play the first half, with some getting action into the third quarter. One player who may be limited is running back, Zeke Elliott, who is expected to get only a handful of snaps early on. Kickoff on Saturday evening is set for 6:00 pm.
And the wait is over. On Saturday unbeaten Floyd “Money” Mayweather puts his unbeaten 49-0 record on the line against UFC fighter turned boxer, Connor McGregor. The middleweight bout between Mayweather and McGregor on Saturday is scheduled for 8:00 pm.
