HS Playoff Football Plus Cowboys Prepare for Redskins

 

Paris – A shut out in round one and a come from behind win in round two have the Paris Wildcats practicing during the Thanksgiving break. They’ll take on the 11-1, 8th ranked Van Vandals Friday afternoon on 101.9 KBUS. The Wildcats, winners of seven straight, are 9-3 and have qualified for the Regional round of the Texas high school football playoffs for the second time in three seasons. Kickoff on Friday afternoon between Paris and Van at Allen’s Eagle Stadium is set for 1pm.

Mount Pleasant – A pair of solid wins, including a 55-6 route in the area round have the Gilmer Buckeyes practicing during Thanksgiving break for the 10th straight season. They’ll take on the 10-2 Jasper Bulldogs Friday night at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium in Tyler. The Buckeye’s at 11-1 have won eight straight to qualify for the Regional round of the Texas high school football playoffs. Kickoff on Friday night between Gilmer and Jasper at Rose Stadium is set for 6pm.

Sulphur Springs – As always, there are still several East Texas teams practicing during Thanksgiving break. In class 6A, the John Tyler Lions take on Klein Collins. In Class 4A Division 1 the Paris Wildcats take on the 8th ranked Van Vandals at Allen’s Eagle Stadium Friday afternoon. Carthage and Henderson clash in a district 9 rivalry on Friday. In 4A Division 2 the Pleasant Grove Hawks are up against the Celina Bobcats, while the Gilmer Buckeyes face Jasper. Mineola kicks off against Howe in Class 3A Division 1. In division 2, Gunter plays Henrietta and Whitewright is up against Winona.

Last night the Dallas Mavericks fall to the San Antonio Spurs 96-91. Harrison Barnes led the way with 20 points and eight rebounds. Seth Curry was the teams high scorer with 23 points. The Mavs have now lost six straight and have an NBA worst 2-11 record. Dallas is back at the American Airline Center tomorrow night against DeAndre Jordan and the LA Clippers. Tip off tomorrow is at 7:30.

The Dallas Stars won their first overtime game last night 3-2 over the Minnesota Wild. Jamie Benn netted the winning goal for the Stars in OT. Tyler Seguin had the assist. Dallas now has 21 points on the season and now climb into 3rd in the Central Division standings.

And the Dallas Cowboys play their annual Thanksgiving day game against Washington. The Cowboys have won nine straight, led by the NFL’s leading rusher, Ezekiel Elliott with over 1,100 yards. Dallas is fifth in the league in total offense and fifth in points allowed per game. Kick off on Thursday afternoon [on 101.9 KBUS] is set for 3:30.
