HS Playoff Schedule Nailed Down Plus Rangers Fall in Extra Innings

Paris – The Area round of high school softball begins on Friday evening while the baseball playoffs will be kicking off with the bi-district round. The North Lamar Pantherette softball team will take on the Crandall Lady Pirates on MIX 107.7, beginning with game one on Friday at 6pm. Game two will be Saturday at 2 with game three to follow if necessary. All games will be play at Grand Saline high school. Meanwhile, the North Lamar boys play a one game playoff against Spring Hill on KOYN 93.9 Friday at 7pm at Spring Hill high school. The Paris Wildcats will take on the Gilmer Buckeyes. All games can be heard live on 101.9 KBUS starting with game one Friday evening at 6pm in Atlanta. Game two is Saturday at 11am and game three will follow if necessary.

Mount Pleasant – The NFL Draft has come and gone and former Daingerfield Tigers Keyarris Garrett and David Mims find themselves headed to rookie Mini Camps this weekend. Though neither was drafted, Garrett was signed as an undrafted Free Agent with the Carolina Panthers and Mims was picked up by the Atlanta Falcons.

The Mt. Pleasant Lady Tigers will take on Manfield Legacy in a three game series with all games to be played at Lindale High School. Game one is scheduled for Friday at 7pm. Game two is Saturday at 11am and game three will follow if necessary. The Hughes Springs Lady Mustangs will take on Van Alstyne.

Meanwhile, in baseball the Gilmer Buckeyes will take on the Paris Wildcats to open post season play. The two teams will meet this weekend for a three game series in Atlanta. Game one is Friday night at 6pm.

Sulphur Springs – It won’t be long until local softball teams play the area round of the post season, while baseball teams begin the playoffs with the bi-district round. The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats will take on Waxahachi in a one game playoff scheduled to be played at North Forney High School. The game will be Saturday night with first pitch at 6pm. The Lone Oak Lady Buffalos will take on the Redwater Lady Dragons. And the Commerce Lady Tigers will face off against the Hooks Lady Hornets.

Meanwhile, high school baseball playoff details are still in the works. The bi-district round will be from Thursday through Saturday.

Last night in Major League Baseball the Texas Rangers let one slip away 3-1 in 10 innings against the Toronto Blue Jays. Roogie Odor struck early in the ballgame that’d be the only offense Texas could muster while Toronto walked it off with a two run blast from former Ranger Justin Smoak. The Rangers and Blue Jays play game three of four tonight north of the border. First pitch [on kplt 1490am and 96.3fm] is set for 6:07pm Central time.

The Dallas Stars were blown out last night by the St. Louis Blues 6-1 in game three of the NHL western conference semi-finals. The loss puts Dallas behind in the series 2-1. Game four is scheduled for tomorrow at 7pm.

And in the NBA playoffs the Miami Heat take a 1-0 series lead over Toronto with a 102-96 overtime win. And the Golden State Warriors take a 2-0 series lead over the Portland Trailblazers after last night’s 110-99 come from behind victory.
