HS Playoffs Set Plus Cowboys Win 7th Straight

Paris – The regular season is over and the playoffs are here. The district 7-4A champion Paris Wildcats cap off the regular season with a win in the crosstown showdown over North Lamar 42-35. Paris begins post season play on Thursday night at Allen Eagle Stadium at 7pm against Crandall on 101.9 KBUS. North Lamar will take on Terrell at Terrell on Friday at 7:30 on MIX 107.7. The Rivercrest Rebels finish a perfect season after beating Wolfe City 43-8. The 10-0 Rebels face Kerens on Friday at 7:30 at Rains high school on KOYN 93.9. The Detroit Eagles begin post season play on Thursday at Forney High School at 7:30 against Meridian. Wrapping up their season, Chisum falls to Whitewright 37-13. Clarksville wins a thriller 55-50 over Cumby. Honey Grove falls to Simms Bowie 14-8 and the Cooper Bulldogs lose to S&S Consolidated 44-12.

Mount Pleasant – The regular season is over and the playoffs are here. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers win big to earn a playoff spot 44-21 over Greenville. The Tigers take on Highland Park on Saturday at 1pm at the Star in Frisco. The Rivercrest Rebels complete a perfect 10-0 season after beating Wolfe City 43-8. The Rebels face off with Kerens on Thursday night at Forney High School’s City Bank Field at 7:30. The Daingerfield Tigers are also district champions, beating Ore City 48-28 on Friday night. They’ll play the bi-district round against Winona on Friday at 7:30 at Panther stadium in Longview. The Paul Pewitt Brahmas win a wild one over New Diana 89-61. Pewitt will also be in Longview at Pine Tree’s Pirate Stadium against Big Sandy Harmony Friday at 7:30. Pittsburg falls to Gilmer 51-35. The Pirates take on Jasper Friday at 7:30 at Palestine. Gilmer will open up the playoffs against Diboll. And Mt. Vernon faces White Oak Thursday night at 7pm at Gilmer.

Sulphur Springs – The regular season is over and the playoffs are here. The Sulphur Springs Wildcats enter the post season after beating Hallsville 35-21. They’ll take on Mequite Poteet Friday night at Lindale with a 7:30 kickoff. The Emory Rains Wildcats crush Dallas Roosevelt 50-6. Rains will draw Celina to open up the post season at Mesquites Memorial Stadium on Friday at 7:30. The Cumby Trojans fall to Clarksville in the regular season finale 55-50. They’ll meet with Hubbard on Thursday night at 7:30. Winnsboro loses to Mineola 42-6. The playoffs for the Red Raiders begin the playoffs against Jefferson on Thursday at 7. And the Mt. Vernon Tigers take on White Oak Thursday in Gilmer with a 7pm kickoff. The Cooper Bulldogs season ends in a 44-12 loss to S&S Consolidated. Greenville falls to Mt. Pleasant 44-21. And the Commerce Tigers end their season on a high note, beating Quitman 48-3.

Yesterday afternoon the Dallas Cowboys throttle the Cleveland Browns 35-10. The rookies, Dak and Zeke combine to score five touchdowns en route to leading the Cowboys to a 7-1 record at the midway point in the season, the best record in the NFC.

The Dallas Mavericks pick up their first win of the season, beating Milwaukee 86-75 in overtime. Harrison Barnes led the way for the Mavs with 34 points and eight rebounds. Dallas is now 1-5 and take on the L-A Lakers tomorrow night at 9:30.

And the Dallas Stars fall in overtime 4-3 to the Chicago Blackhawks. Gemel Smith scored his first two career goals for the Stars in the loss. Marian Hossa netted the winner for Chicago in OT. The Stars have 11 points on the season, 4th in the Central Division.
