HS Volleyball Playoffs Plus Mavs Win in LA

Paris – A pair of Red River Valley volleyball teams advance to the regional tournament last night. The North Lamar Pantherette’s sweep Emory Rains and will face Argyle on Friday. The Detroit Lady Eagles defeat Cumby and will be up against top ranked Iola. Meanwhile, tomorrow night is the start of the football post season. On Thursday the Paris Wildcats play Crandall at Allen’s Eagle Stadium. The game will be carried on 101.9 KBUS. On Friday, the North Lamar Panthers face Terrell in Terrell on MIX 107.7. The Rivercrest Rebels take on Kerens at Emory Rains on KOYN 93.9. And the Detroit Eagles are at Forney High School against Meridian. Friday’s games kickoff at 7:30.

Mount Pleasant – It’s playoff time in Texas as area football teams begin the post season. On Thursday night the Mt. Vernon Tigers take on White Oak at Gilmer High School at 7pm on KLAKE 97.7. KLAKE will also carry the Pittsburg Pirates in the bi-district round against Jasper Friday night in Palestine, while on Star Country 96.9 the Paul Pewitt Brahmas go up against Big Sandy Harmony. Both games kick off at 7:30. And on Saturday the Mt. Pleasant Tigers travel to Dallas Cowboys Headquarters in Frisco where they’ll take on the Highland Park Scots at The Star. Kickoff on KLAKE 97.7 is at 1pm Saturday afternoon.

Sulphur Springs – The high school volleyball playoffs resumed last night with the regional quarterfinal round. The Cumby Lady Trojans saw their season come to an end at the hands of the Detroit Lady Eagles in straight sets.

It’s playoff time in Texas as area football teams begin the post season. The Cumby Trojan football team will be in action tomorrow night. They’ll be up against Hubbard at 7:30. Also on Thursday the Mt. Vernon Tigers take on White Oak at Gilmer High School. Kick off from Jeff Trailor Stadium is set for 7. And to wrap up the Thursday night games, the Winnsboro Red Raiders take on Jefferson at 7pm. The Sulphur Springs Wildcats will be featured on Star Country 95.9 on Friday evening. They’ll face off with Mesquite Poteet at Lindale while the Emory Rains Wildcats meet Celina at Mesquite Memorial Stadium. Both Friday games kick off at 7:30.

Last night the Dallas Mavericks win their second straight game 109-97 over the LA Lakers. Harrison Barnes had a monster game with 31 points. The Mavs are 2-5 on the season and stay on the west coast tonight when they visit Kevin Durant, Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors. Tip off tonight is at 9:30.

The Dallas Stars were crushed last night at the hands of Winnipeg 8-2. The Jets netted four goals in a horrendous 2nd period for the Stars. With the loss, the Stars maintain 11 points on the season, tied for fifth in the Central Division. Dallas hockey is back on the ice at Calgary tomorrow night with puck drop at 8pm.

And Rawlings Gold Glovers in Major League Baseball were named last night. Texas Rangers 1st baseman Mitch Moreland wins his 1st career gold glove while 3rd baseman Adrian Beltre collects his fifth.

And the top four in the College Football Playoffs are number one, Alabama. Number two Clemson. Third is Michigan and forth is Washington.
