According to reports surfacing Monday, Former Texas Longhorns coach Mack Brown agreed to terms with North Carolina on Monday to become the team’s next head coach.

Brown will return for his second stint with the Tar Heels after previously coaching the team from 1988–97.

the Houston Texans set a franchise record with their eighth straight win, 34–17 over the Tennessee Titans on Monday night. In doing so, Houston became the first team in NFL history to win eight in a row after starting 0–3. Houston also set a franchise record with 281 rushing yards that included a 97-yard TD run by Lamar Miller and 70 from Deshaun Watson in an AFC South 34-17 win.

Mack Brown has agreed to terms to become the next football head coach at North Carolina, pending approval by the university’s board. Brown replaces Larry Fedora, who was fired Sunday after going 45-43 in seven seasons at UNC. Brown coached the Tar Heels from 1988 to ’97. Brown, 67, is 244-122-1 in 30 seasons as a head coach. He is part of the 2018 College Football Hall of Fame class, and he won the 2005 national championship at Texas. He has been a college football analyst for ESPN the last five years.

The Jacksonville Jaguars fired offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett on Monday after the team lost its seventh straight game Sunday. Hackett was in his third season as the Jaguars’ offensive coordinator. And, as a result, Blake Bortles is done as the Jaguars’ starting quarterback — for 2018, anyway. Coach Doug Marrone said backup Cody Kessler will take over for the rest of the season, beginning with Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts as the Jaguars (3-8) try to snap a seven-game losing streak.

The Atlanta Braves and free-agent third baseman Josh Donaldson have agreed on a one-year, $23 million contract. The deal is pending a physical. Donaldson, the 2015 American League MVP, joined Cleveland just before the Aug. 31 waiver deadline. Because of an assortment of injuries, he was limited to just 16 games with the Indians and had only one hit in the postseason. By the way, Atlanta is still one of the suitors in the Bryce Harper sweepstakes.
