Hurricane Harvey Update for Monday

President Trump is coming to Texas tomorrow to survey Hurricane Harvey damage. Trump has been praising the government’s response to the storm on Twitter. He tweeted Sunday that he would be traveling to Texas as soon as he could go “without causing disruption.”

Harvey could remain a tropical storm through Wednesday and a tropical depression in east Texas Thursday through Saturday. This will likely cause significant flooding over the southern half of East Texas and minor to marginal flooding problems over the northern sections, due to moderate rainfall falling for several days.  We will monitor rainfall, flooding potential and any other severe weather events across our area.

The National Hurricane Center is offering no promises of relief from the epic rains unleashed on Southeast Texas by Tropical Storm Harvey. Forecasters say “little change in strength is forecast during the next 12 hours.” In fact, “some slight re-strengthening is possible after the center moves off the coast tonight and Tuesday.”

Key oil and gas facilities along the Texas Gulf Coast have temporarily shut down as Harvey pounded the region. Experts predict gas prices will rise by five cents to 25 cents per gallon.

We’ll have all the latest from Harvey at the top of the hour from Fox News.
