The purpose of the 2022 Unity In The CommUnity Virtual Prayer Service is to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life and legacy, commemorate his dream and recognize those local heroes. The latter tirelessly work toward pursuing that dream through reflection and fellowship.
Jarvis Christian College hosts the prayer service annually. It provides an opportunity for the community to fellowship. It prays together for the institution, city government, local school districts, law enforcement, and area leadership to foster unity among all races and work toward bringing ethnic healing in and around East Texas.
Jarvis will honor community partners Target Corporation and Wood County Electric Cooperative during the program.
King’s life and legacy advocated for fairness and equality for all citizens through powerful, prayerful, and peaceful protest. See Dr. King’s monumental “I Have a Dream” speech on the National Mall here: https://youtu.be/vP4iY1TtS3s.
