The world’s largest meat processing company says it paid the equivalent of $11 million in bitcoin to hackers who broke into its computer system on Memorial Day weekend. JBS, which owns Pilgrim’s and other meat companies, was the victim of a ransomware attack. JBS said the vast majority of its facilities were operational at the time it made the payment. Still, it decided to pay to avoid any unforeseen issues and ensure no stolen data. The FBI blames the attack on REvil, a Russian-speaking gang.
