After a two week trial a Franklin County jury found 23 year old James Arthur Crawford III guilty of Capital Murder Monday. He was automatically sentenced by 8th Judicial District Judge Eddie Northcutt to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Crawford had been indicted for murdering 75 year old Kenneth Rex Raley of Mt. Vernon who was disabled. The case was prosecuted by District Attorney Will Ramsay. Crawford’s court-appointed attorneys were Martin Braddy of Sulphur Springs and Mac Cobb of Mt. Pleasant.
