A woman was seriously injured and a man suffered minor injuries Saturday when their jet ski exploded in Cooper Lake near the South Sulphur Unit of the park. Park officials say the couple was out in the lake when the jet ski stopped working and attempted to swim it back to the dock area. They then attempted to start it, and it exploded. Meanwhile, a nearby boat, was occupied by a Longview firefighter who went to the couples aid. The woman was transported to Christus –Mother Francis Sulphur Springs with what was believed to be a broken back. The male victim suffered only minor injuries. The accident will be investigated by Game Wardens Chris Fried and Randolph McGee.
