“Jugging” Incident Reported In Greenville

Greenville Police received a report of a burglary of a vehicle at 7717 Wesley Street. During the initial investigation, information was received that a black Dodge Charger followed the victim from the bank to the offense location and parked at the pump next to the victim. The suspect then shattered the front passenger window and stole a large amount of cash that was inside the victim’s vehicle. When this offense occurred, the victim was standing on the driver’s side of his vehicle pumping gas. There were also several other individuals in and around the parking lot but no one noticed the offense occurring. A video of the incident was obtained and will be posted to the department’s Facebook page.

The suspect vehicle’s license plate is LGT8008. Although it is believed that the vehicle is out of the area, there may be others.

Jugging is the term used to describe a crime in which criminals specifically target bank and ATM customers who they believe have withdrawn a large amount of cash. The criminal will follow the victim to their next stop, break into the vehicle, and steal the cash.
