Juneteenth Holiday Bill Awaits Biden’s Signature

The U.S. House of Representatives approved a bill Wednesday to make Juneteenth a national holiday. The measure passed the Senate on Tuesday, and they expect President Biden to sing it Thursday. It will create a federal holiday on June 19. That’s the date in 1865 when word of the emancipation proclamation reached Galveston.
