The Paris Lamar County Health District reported Wednesday that there were 40 new positive PCR tests and 88 new Positive Antigen tests for COVID. There were 699 active cases reported. The Texas Department of State Health Services reports a total of 172 deaths from the virus.
Local health officials are reporting a surge in people seeking non-symptomatic or mildly symptomatic COVID testing. Hundreds per day wanting a test has diminished the local ER’s capacity to take care of seriously ill patients.
